THE HINDU FEDERATION VIRTUAL PROGRAM on ZOOM, FACEBOOK & YOUTUBE: 18th NOV (Multi-faith Conf.), 21st (Motorcade to show support to Front line workers)) & 22nd Nov (Virtual Entertainment)

 

The Multi-Faith Forum (Virtual event)  is on TODAY  Wednesday November 18, 2020 from 5 PM to 7 PM.  You can access it via :

There will be presentations from the following faith communities. We are also including the proposed presenters for each community

 

  1. Zoroastrian Community – Mr. Fred Mirza
  2. Canadian Council of Imams – Mr Refaat Mohamed
  3. Jewish Community  – Rabbi Bill S. Tepper
  4. Catholic Community – Cardinal Thomas Collins
  5. Anglican Community – Archbishop Linda Nicholls
  6. Candian Multifaith – Mr James Christie
  7. Hindu Community – Dr. Doobay

 

The format will be (tentatively) as listed below

 

  • Moderator for the event will be Pandit Roopnauth Sharma.
  • Registration/zoom connect at 4.55 PM November 18.
  • Welcome by moderator 5 PM.
  • Each presenter will be introduced by the moderator (tentative order of presentation as listed above).
  • Each presenter will be allocated 10 Minutes for their presentation, unless noted otherwise.
  • Q&A will be at the end of the presentations.

In December 2016, through an Act embedded in Bill 56, the Province of Ontario proclaimed the month of November as Hindu Heritage Month (HHM) in recognition of the immense contributions that Hindu Canadians have made across all fields of endeavour in the Province.

The Hindu Federation will be celebrating Hindu Heritage Month during November 2020.
The theme of this year’s celebrations is;
“Danam,” – Giving with Compassion.

The following activities have been planned:

Food Bank Project
During the month, Hindu Federation members will organize their own food drives and donate the vegetarian items to their local Foodbanks.  Cheque donations will also be accepted, and charitable tax receipts will be issued for amounts of $21 and over.

Shoebox Project

This is a simple appeal from area hospital foundations for personal items such as shampoo, tooth paste, hair brushes, combs, shower gel, shaving cream, etc. and will be coordinated by Hindu Federation members for donation to local hospitals. Cheque donations will also be accepted, and charitable tax receipts will be issued for amounts of $11 and over.

Multi-Faith Forum – November 18,2020 5:00pm to 7:00pm
This will be a virtual event that will be presented via Zoom, Facebook and YouTube. It will feature leaders from the Hindu community and other major faith groups in Canada, who will speak on ‘How to make Canada a more pluralistic society”.

Motorcade – Saturday, November, 21, 2020 4:00pm to 6:00pm
This event has been scheduled to show support for Frontline and Essential Services workers at Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering Hospital. The motorcade (which will be escorted by Durham Regional Police Service) will leave the Food Basic Plaza at 280 Harwood Avenue South (at the corner of Harwood Avenue South and Hunt Street) in Ajax at 5.00 p.m. and proceed along Harwood Avenue South to the Ajax-Pickering Hospital. The Hindu Federation will seek donations of items requested by the Ajax-Pickering Hospital Foundation – Philanthropic Operations and will deliver those items at the end of the parade.

Cultural Program
This program will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 1.00 to 4.00 p.m. via Facebook and YouTube and will feature performances from Hindu Federation member temples, as well as messages from officials from all levels of government.
