CMIC – The Canadian Museum of Indian Civilization, a sister organization of the Voice of the Vedas Cultural Sabha Inc., is a pioneering institution in North America dedicated to showcasing the rich history and cultural heritage of India. CMIC is comprised of several key components: the Museum, Peace Park, Wall of Peace, Cosmic Theatre, Ashwatha Tree, and Jain Exhibition. Each of these elements offers visitors a unique experience, fostering cultural integration and promoting peace.
The Museum itself explores the evolution and global influence of Indian civilization, providing an immersive look at its history and cultural contributions.
On the museum grounds, the Peace Park, unveiled in 2010, features tranquil gardens and significant monuments such as the Memorial to a Fallen Soldier, the Peace Garden, and a statue of Mahatma Gandhi, all of which embody the museum’s commitment to peace and harmony.
A central feature of CMIC is the Wall of Peace, which advocates for religious harmony and peace by illustrating historical atrocities and highlighting individuals who helped restore peace throughout history.
The Cosmic Theatre offers an award-winning experience that blends scientific theories with Hindu religious principles. It explores humanity’s connection to the universe, providing a deeper understanding of both science and spirituality.
The Ashwatha Tree, also known as the Tree of Life, is displayed in the museum’s lobby. It symbolizes calmness, longevity, and hope, holding significant meaning in both Hindu and Buddhist traditions.
Additionally, CMIC features the Jain Exhibition, which highlights the life and teachings of Mahavir, the twenty-fourth Tirthankara of Jainism. This exhibit emphasizes Jain principles such as non-violence, truth, and non-attachment, which are essential for spiritual liberation.
