Subject: Guidance for Re-Opening Places of Worship
To: HEOC Liaison <[email protected]>

Good afternoon,

As you know, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, remaining a public health emergency. We have heard from many in our community regarding the recent Provincial allowances for places of worship, and the desire for more information and guidance.

To help, we’re attaching our most recent COVID-19: Guidance For Re-Opening Places of Worship (PDF) in an effort to aid you as you begin the process of re-opening your facilities. The guidance document includes many sections that will be of interest to you: from preparation, to health and safety messaging on service, cleaning and disinfection, and even information on drive-in gatherings.

We ask again that you share this information with your staff, partners, associates and especially members of your community. As we return to in-person gatherings, we hope that you will find this guidance both informative and helpful, so that we may all pray and worship in a safe and healthy way, together.

Further guidance on COVID-19 including information on how to protect yourself, symptoms, treatment and testing, supports for families with young children and community supports are available at: york.ca/covid19.

If you have additional questions, you may contact York Region Public Health – Health Connection at: 1-800-361-5653, Monday to Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. to speak with a public health professional.

Thank you and stay safe,
